North Lincoln was completed in 2003, and the total student population is approximately 1,050. The school mascot is the Knight, and the school colors (as originally adopted) are Royal Blue, Silver, and Black, with white as an accent color.

North Lincoln has a variety of athletic teams. The North Lincoln Men’s Golf Team won back to back state 2A championships in 2009 and 2010 and also State Runner up in 2011, 2012, and 2013. The team has earned regional championships in 2009 and 2010, and regional runner up in 2004, 2005, 2011, and 2012. The golf team has the following conference championships. 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. The women’s basketball team placed first in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A conference tournament in February (2009). The North Lincoln Cross Country Teams have both risen to the top. The girls team has won 4 straight Conference Championships(2009,10,11), 4 straight regional championships (2009,10,11,12) and have placed in the top three in the state championship four straight years. The boys have won three straight conference titles, two straight regional titles, and won three state championship titles in 2011, 2012, and 2017. North Lincoln’s Swim Team celebrated a State Championship in 2014 when senior McKenzie Weed came in 1st place in the Women’s 50 yard freestyle. She was the first swimmer in North Lincoln history to win a State Championship.

West Lincoln has nineteen different sports including American football, baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, softball, wrestling, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s soccer and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and volleyball. All of these, with the exception of tennis, track, soccer and golf, have junior varsity and varsity teams.

The most notable sport at West Lincoln is the wrestling team. In the 2000 season, West Lincoln won the 2-A Dual Team State Championship posting a 31-1 overall record. The wrestling team was also Individual State Tournament runner-up in 2005. It has also won the conference championship every year but once since Butch Ross took over in the 1996-1997 season. In the month of February 2015, the West Lincoln wrestlers traveled to Croatan High School to win another 2-A Dual Team State Championship title.

UNC cheerleader Vic Huggins is credited with beginning the tradition of Ram mascots at UNC. In 1924, Huggins decided that UNC needed an animal mascot similar to N.C. State’s wolf or Georgia’s bulldog. The idea for using a ram came from the nickname for star Tar Heel fullback Jack Merritt, known as the “Battering Ram.”

Huggins ordered a live ram from Texas. They named him Rameses. He made his first appearance on the sidelines was during the UNC-VMI game on November 8, 1924, a hard-fought Carolina victory. Rameses and his descendants have been fixtures at UNC football games ever since.

UNC introduced a costumed Rameses during the 1987-1988 basketball season which also has become an equally important part of the UNC athletics experience.
